Newsela: Group pushes to protect children working on U.S. tobacco farms

There was a post on newsela that involved Senator Hornback bringing children int harmful laborer. Click here to read the post.

Republican Kentucky state Senator Paul Hornback, who owns a tobacco farm, said he doesn’t believe further restrictions are needed.

I made a letter to the senator about my feelings of what he’s doing.

Dear Senator,

I’m sorry Paul Hornback, I don’t agree with you about letting children going into dangerous labor without any protective gear and letting them get sick. Why do you do this? Why are you disagreeing with everyone else? What I think you should do is at least give us an explanation. We’re supposed to protect children, not deny them.

Sincerely,
Griffin J.

Week 10 part B:

I have eleven blog posts. Out of those eleven I wrote seven blogs for school and four for myself. So far, those blog posts have given me five comments. Out of those posts the one that got the most comments was the one about me. I think I got so many comments on that was because I made two videos and I gave a good description about me. I changed the theme of my blog so it would look like Hogwarts. I have only six widgets but I think that’s just enough. I do not have anyone subscribed to me yet.

Week 10 Great blogs

Hello again! Don’t be so surprised. So for this bloging challenge I will nominate someone… Here it for Makenzied6!!! Yahhhhhhh! Woo-hoo! I’d like to nominate you, Makenzied6, because of how creative you were with your blogs and because of the “texture” of the writing. I will soon nominate you and I will keep this sentence even if I am finished…

Week 9: Family Fun

I don’t think that people do that much with their parents or family so I made a post for people have too much on their plate to spend family time. Everyone knows that God comes first and Family comes second so you have to do the chores they tell you and maybe drop out of a few things so you can spend more time with family and less on the things that you think you should do.

Family is a must do not something you think you should do. It’s even in the Ten Commandments! You should honor your father and mother. There is also another that says you should respect thy neighbor as thyself, and your brother or sister lives with you! If that’s not a neighbor I don’t know what is.

So just a recap:

  • listen to your parents
  • try to have as much fun with them as you can
  • drop out of a few optional things you get caught up with
  • love your family!

I hope this post made you something to think about at home because most of my friends from other schools and at OLG were all wrapped up in volleyball, basketball, decathlon, and other sports/things that they don’t necessarily have to do. So I really hope you thought my post was inspiring, I mean my family is happy because of this too.

Here are some links from other blogs that I thought were good too.

Week 8: About my school… And what I do in it.

This blog is about my school and all the stuff I do in it. I hope you will like it enough to go to my school!

  • I usually get up to go to school at 6:30 because I can drive there in 20 min. drive.
  • I have to have a quick breakfast usually because I get up late and I try to prep myself a good snack and sandwich.
  • I get to school by car.
  • like I said I get to school in about a 20 min. drive.
  • I always have to pack a sandwich. Ughhh!
  • I have to do Math, English/Lit; Science, Spanish, Phys. Ed; Computer, Social Studies, Art, and Music
  • I used to take HTML class and now I’m looking forward to Robotics.
  • We also are given an iPad to do work on and do computer class.
  • On Fridays you have a half day and Wednesdays are church days.
  • For K-3, they play in the inner courtyard, for 4-8 they go in the outer courtyard but Jr. High has a separate break and lunch time.
  • At 3:30 the school ends, and when the day is over we go home and do our homework.
  • We do have a uniform
  • Our school year duration lasts for 9 1/2 months.
  • I really enjoy how we arrange things the way we do.
  • I think we should have bigger Pep rallies.

Week 7: How to preform Tummy Trouble!

I made this blog because I won third place at the school science fair because of it and I thought you would want to learn how to do it.

So basically what you do is take a tray or dish and put milk and food coloring in it and then you put dishwasher detergent in and it takes away the surface tension so the milk tries to spread out as far as possible.
